Domain Acquisition Service for the Name Someone Else Already Owns.
The domain you want is registered, parked, or held by an owner who never replies. Our domain acquisition service finds the person who really controls it, approaches them without revealing who you are, negotiates the price and terms, and closes through escrow. You pay nothing unless the domain is acquired.
Almost every name worth having is already registered. Getting it comes down to who asks, how and when.
We handle all three.
Everything it takes to turn a taken name into yours.
01
Finding the real owner
Private WHOIS records, parked pages and holding companies hide who controls a name. We trace it to the person who can actually say yes.
01
A straight valuation
Comparable sales and current market conditions tell you what the name should cost, before you put a number on the table.
01
Anonymous first contact
The owner hears from DomainConvo, never from you. No company name, no funding news, no launch date.
01
Negotiation on price and terms
Price is one lever. Payment timing and transfer terms get negotiated too, so the deal fits how you actually pay.
01
Escrow and transfer, handled
Funds and the domain move at the same moment through a trusted escrow service, and the name lands in your registrar account.
01
Patience when it's a no
Some owners say no, then change their mind months later. We step back and revisit when the timing is right.
What is a domain acquisition service?
A domain acquisition service is a buyer-side broker that buys an already-registered domain on your behalf. The broker finds the owner, contacts them privately, negotiates the price and terms, and runs the escrow and transfer. You never deal with the seller directly.
It's different from registering a new domain. You aren't picking from what's left. You're making a private offer on the exact name you want, to someone who doesn't have to sell. For the full picture, read what a buyer-side domain broker does, or our case study on how to buy a domain name that is taken.
Buying a taken domain on your own usually costs more than it saves.
| Going direct | Working with DomainConvo |
|---|---|
| Your name and email are on the very first message | Your identity stays confidential all the way to closing |
| WHOIS says "redacted" and the trail goes cold | We reach the person who actually controls the name |
| You guess what the name is worth | Comparable sales and market conditions shape the offer |
| An eager first offer becomes the new floor | A negotiator who knows when to push and when to wait |
| Paying a stranger and hoping the transfer happens | Funds and the domain move together through escrow |
| Your time goes into the chase either way | You pay nothing unless the domain is acquired |
Four steps from a taken domain to a transferred one.

Close through escrow
Clear terms before we start. Nothing owed if it doesn't close.
We agree on terms with you before any work begins. If we don't acquire the domain, you owe us nothing. Timing depends on the owner: a willing seller can close in days or weeks, while a reluctant one can take months of patient back-and-forth.

Domain Acquisition Service FAQs
What does a domain acquisition service do?
It buys an already-registered domain on your behalf. That means finding the real owner, valuing the name, contacting the owner without revealing who you are, negotiating the price and terms, and closing the deal through escrow.
How much does a domain acquisition service cost?
There is no fixed minimum. We agree on clear terms with you before any work begins, and you pay nothing unless the domain is acquired. The price of the domain itself depends on the name, the owner and the market.
Can you buy a domain that isn't for sale?
Often, yes. Many owners who have never listed a name will still consider a serious, well-handled offer. We approach them anonymously, find out if they would sell, and tell you honestly if they won't.
How do you find the owner if the WHOIS record is private?
We use the legitimate routes available, such as ownership history, registrar and privacy-service contact channels, marketplace listings and the owner's wider web presence, to reach the person who actually controls the name.
Will the owner find out who's buying?
No. We contact the owner as DomainConvo and keep your identity confidential through the negotiation and the escrow closing.
How long does it take to acquire a domain?
It depends on the owner. A willing seller can close in days or weeks. A reluctant one can take months, sometimes longer, so it pays to start before a launch date is fixed.
Is it worth using a broker for a lower-priced domain?
Sometimes not. If a name is listed at a fixed price you're happy with, you can often buy it straight from the marketplace. A broker earns its keep when the owner is hard to reach, the price is open to negotiation, or your identity would push the price up. We'll tell you honestly which one you're looking at.
Can the payment be spread over time?
Potentially. We can explore installment or structured payment terms when the seller is open to them.
